The Sofa, Chair, And Making a Furniture Buying Decision
A couple of weeks ago a nice couple, we will call them the Smith's (the name has been changed to protect the innocent), came into our store looking to replace their tired and worn-out sofa and love seat. That was their plan anyway.
As they were greeted by one of our awesome customer service experts, Mrs. Smith told our representative their dilemma. Along with their challenge, they brought a drawn out plan of their room with some measurements. About that time I walked by and saw this room measurement they brought with them and I became very curious. Even though I've been in this business a long time, I can learn a thing or two from our customers.
Mrs. Smith was so frustrated with their current living room furniture it depressed her walking into the room anymore. They are planning a big party in a few weeks and they want seating flexibility without losing the number of seats they now have, but they don't want the room to be cluttered. She also didn't want to be embarrassed in front of their friends and family by their old worn-out furniture. All Mr. Smith wanted was a nice chair to come home from a long day at work and be able to relax without his back getting tired. He said, "I want a chair for me, just like Martin Crane in the Frasier show." Mrs. Smith said, "But not the ratty and awful green color, something that will fit in with my style and color choices." I knew we could help solve both of their desires.
To make a longer story a bit shorter, we ended up helping them retain the same number of seats in the living room, provide flexibility, and solve Mr. Smith's desire to have Martin Crane experience, but with some awesome style. They ended up ordering a custom fabric Flexsteel sofa. This new one is similar size to their existing sofa, but they also added two unique chairs to replace the loveseat. All-in-all, they kept their same number of seating, and had the flexibility to change their room around on the fly. And, they got the fabric they wanted.
They were in-and-out of our store in about 45 minutes, including the fabric choice. Why? They simple floor plan and old furniture measurements made all the difference in the world on how we can help them out. Mrs. Smith also brought in a couple of color swatches she absolutely loved so the fabric choice was simple.
The moral of the story? If you have a great idea what you would like, a few room measurements and even a picture or two, we can have some fun solving your dilemma.
